“Just the ticket!” - Fantastic overseeding results

Otley Golf Club recently used the Dyna-Seeders for their highly successful overseeding program. The goal was to increase the strike rate whilst causing minimal disruption to their greens.
The results were amazing - not just the germination rate, but also the fast coverage, clean operation and substantial time saved.
We spoke to Phil Dodds, Course Manager, who explained this success in more detail.
Phil Dodds, Otley Golf Club Course Manager:
"We cored to a depth of 3 inches before introducing 60 tons of topdressing into the profile, which was then brushed in over a couple of days.
"The Dyna-Seeder was great for getting the seed in. We found the take-up, compared to conventional ways of doing, was just fantastic. The fact that you can attach it to a triple, without taking a heavy tractor over your greens after coring work is great - it's done and dusted!
"With three independent units rolling over undulations, the coverage is fantastic - we set off at 6am and we did all 20 greens by 9.30am - for me that's just the ticket!
"The results are great, it's been an absolutely fantastic process to go through. The strike rate, we must have had 80 or 90%.
"It's one of the quickest and cleanest we've done. It makes things so much easier and so much smoother."
How does the Dyna-Seeder work?
The vibra-spiker mechanism vibrates the spikes into the ground which produces thousands of clean open holes for the seed to lodge and germinate in.
At the same time the seed is precisely metered out onto the green at the most economical application rate and pushed into the ground by the rotating spikes as they penetrate.
The precision seeding mechanism has a wide range of pre-set application rates which will handle bent seeds, fescue seeds and mixtures. Even pure bent can now be accurately and economically sown, without wind drift.
