Why the Thatch-Away Verticutter Is the Cutting Edge in Thatch Removal

If you could only have one attachment to fit to your greens triple, it would have to be the Thatch-Away Verticutters – we think they are the greenkeeper’s number one basic ‘must have’, and hundreds of users, around the country and across the world, see it the same way.

Why? Because you won’t find an easier way to turn slow, spongy greens that your players hate, into the fast, firm playing surfaces that they love.

How it works

When it comes to creating the putting surfaces they expect, the Verticutters are the most useful tool in your shed, because they improve the condition of your greens a little more every time you use them.

The Verticutters slice effortlessly through the thatch that builds up between the grass canopy and the soil surface. Then to make your life even easier, they lift the thatch and vacuum it up in the same pass. You’re left with collection boxes full of thatch and a grass surface that can breathe and drain so much more freely.

We call it legendary thatch removal, and that’s no idle boast. Thatch-Away Verticutters are loved by greenkeepers just like you, right across the globe, from local club courses to Major tournament venues.

Quality you can count on

We know how much you’ll love the Verticutters, and how much punishment you’ll put them through, so we’ve built them to last. The blades have tungsten carbide tips that stay sharp year after year, spaced just 10mm apart, to give you the most effective thatch removal possible.

With all your greens to look after, it’s great to know you can get the job done thoroughly and effectively in a single pass. There’s no need for a second pass and no wasting time clearing up afterwards. With the Thatch-Aways you just verticut, then give your greens their normal daily mow, knowing your greens will get firmer and faster every time.

And adjusting the height of cut couldn’t be easier. With the incredibly accurate ‘set-by-feel’ adjusters, you can precisely set how deep you cut in 0.25mm increments. We recommend that you set the blades at -1mm to -3mm for typical thatch growth, but you can set them as deep as 6mm if you have a deep thatch problem that you need to intensively work on.

Helping you with fine grass too

Of course, thatch isn’t just a problem on parkland greens, it affects coastal courses too where the grass is finer and more delicate. But don’t worry, because GreenTek have got your back on the links as well as in the park.

The Thatch-Away Fine-Grass Cassettes do exactly what they say on the tin, helping you to remove thatch from Fescues and other fine coastal course grasses as quickly and cleanly as the regular Verticutters. The difference is that with extra-thin blades spaced further apart at 15mm, cutting at a shallower depth of 1-2mm, it does the job without stressing the fine sward.

The quick and easy way to fast and firm greens

As any good greenkeeper knows, caring for your course and your greens is all about managing your time, as well as managing the playing surfaces. That’s why we’ve designed the Thatch-Away system to be as quick and easy to use as possible. You can quickly switch cassettes, swapping from verticutters to groomers, rollers to brushes or any other cassettes in just minutes.

For more than two decades, the Thatch-Away verticutters have proved to be an essential “must have” for the vast majority of golf courses in the UK.  But if you don’t yet have a set, give us a call and we’ll arrange a demonstration so you can try them out for yourself.
